Thanks to those of you that we met in Scotland, new faces and old.  So, what have the show, magazine and the rod got in common - well its about the rod.  The Marryat Tactical 9ft #5 made a great debut in T&S May issue’s recent review.  Great write up because it really is a great rod!  progressive action but smooth power reserves to load a lot of line and as always Tactical rods are made to fish and are not just the casting machines that some of our competitors produce.

We have introduced two new rods to the existing range. They are both amazing performers and a little different. They are the Marryat Tactical 8ft #3 and Marryat Tactical 9ft #8. We met up with some of the world’s finest fly tyers at the BFFI 2007 last weekend at Trenham Gardens, England. We got some good feedback from realistic fly tyer, Peter Smith. He, like many there were using various Varivas patterns “I have been using Varivas hooks for a few years now but they were hard to get hold of and the sources dried up in the USA. When I found out they were going to be available over here in the UK, I could not wait to get my hands on some. The hook I initially looked at was the 2200 Curved Shank, it is the hook I now use for my extended foam body Mayflies and adult Caddis. It’s an excellent hook, strong, lightweight and extremely sharp.
I have also been experimenting with the newly released 2410 Deep Wide Wet hooks and 2120 Wave Barbless so, watch this space.”

Phil Holding of Spiders Plus, has recently discovered Varivas 2200 hooks.  This is what he said;

“I have been hunting for an effective alternative to the Partridge hook for Klinkhamers and have at last found a great range that offers the profile of Partridge Klinkhamer Extreme, but in much smaller sizes!

The re-introduction in the UK of the Varivas 2200 micro barbed hook now enables me to offer this great fly in much smaller sizes - the hook offers a good curved shank with a flat spot by the eye.

I now offer “micro Klinks” tied on sizes 14 down to 20; the Varivas 14 is smaller than the size 20 Klinkhamer Extreme!

Choose from three different coloured wing posts with 10 different body colours initially - more variations are available such as the “Purple Ugly” and Yellowhamers.
